No More Xbox 360 Core for You!

No More Xbox 360 Core for You!Don’t panic… or panic, if you’ve been saving enough cash to buy the ordinary Xbox 360 Core package. Gamespot and Kotaku have caught wind of the newest rule that applies to game stores: “Don’t say a word about the Core pack”. It seems that the stock is gone, although I’ve just seen one of these consoles in a store this weekend.

This also might be a sign that Microsoft’s preparing for the launch of new version of the Core system, which includes wireless controllers and that useful 256MB memory card. I hope that the price will match our expectations, or even surpass them, making the new Core be available at a lower price than the original one. The advantages of an Xbox 360 Core? First of all, it’s cheaper and second, most of the average gamers are not in dire need of a hard drive to save their Xbox Live demos on.

They’ll just use their gaming device to play that good old Halo 3 DVD or maybe give BioShock a spin while waiting for the neat Clive Barker’s Jericho title to come out. Microsoft struck gold when the first Xbox 360 came out and they want to increase their sales by pulling out a new offer for their top selling console. Well, as long as the Red Ring of Death and overheating problems are gone, I’ll be satisfied with one of these cool devices.

Is this some sort of counterattack move to Sony’s decision to release a 40GB PS3, finally available at a decent price? The true console battle will start on Christmas, when Sony and Microsoft will once again bomb the market with mega-offers, while the Wii will manage to top the sales quietly and without great price reduction. Who do you think will win these console wars?
