12 Euphemisms Used to Mislead You
Here is a list of the 12 most misleading sets of words that we could find in use, most of them in the United States, which seems to have a real appetite for calling things by names they have nothing to do with. These are just a few examples.
Binocular Deprivation means no more no less than to sew an animal’s eyes shut during an experiment, for various purposes. The technique is widely used in research labs worldwide, and is meticulously described in each paper featuring the procedure.
Biosolids is just another word for sewage sludge, and is employed in official documents instead of other terms. This word, like many others from the list, is only meant to make a bad thing sound good, and has nothing to do with being politically correct. It’s all about PR and image. Read more

Kitt Car for 30-Somethings…
Oh dear oh dear… Men, or should I say big kids of a certain age may remember the US TV series Knight Rider where David Hasselhoff drove around nabbing bad guys and generally saving the world in a computerised talking car called Kitt.
I bet you can see this one coming because GPS SatNav makers Mio have developed one that uses the voice the voice of a chap called William Daniels – the voice of the original Kitt to tell you where you are, and where you are going. If you think that you can live with a GPS with swishy red lights and which says ‘ hello Michael, where do you want to go today?’ or you really are called Michael then your prayers have just been answered.
Beemers on the Web
BMW look set to become the first vehicle manufacturer to offer in-car web access as an optional extra. It is using a system called ConnectedDrive, which relies on a GPRS cellphone connection to provide the driver and passengers with an Internet connection from a dashboard display and custom browser. Ferrari Pedal Car Looks Fast
If you’re going to make a pedal car based on the Ferrari FXX you have to go all out, and it looks like Berg Toys has done just that. While the FXX Exclusive model pictured above isn’t exactly a spitting image of the real thing, it comes with a list of features that make other pedal cars look like… well… a children’s toy. Read more
The Robot Invasion Begins
So be it then! We should at least look at the bright side of the whole deal. No more stepping out of the car, no more getting dirty or smelling of petrol after a quick refuel. The automatic refueling unit was developed by an inventor from Netherlands who is also a gas station owner, and is the first of its kind in the world working in a gas-pumping station. Ouch! That will really drive some unemployed people mad.
Nico van Staveren said in an interview that he got the idea while visiting a
farm and saw the robotic arm used for milking the cows, and started thinking that he could build a similar device that would fill the tank of a car on its own. If it were to go into mass production, a model could cost up to 110,000 U.S. dollars. However, it does not work on all types of cars, just on the models that do not require a specific key to open the gas cap in order to gain access to the fuel tank. Read more
The Rinspeed sQuba Car
Well I was about to go apeshit on the Rinspeed sQuba car until I read they admitted to it being inspired by James Bond’s Lotus in The Spy Who Loved Me. So after I calmed down a bit and drank my weight in cough syrup I passed out in the driveway on the way to the mailbox. When a passing street-sweeper finally woke me I pissed myself and fell back asleep. Read more
F-1 Car Lawnmower Cuts Grass
Kadeg Boucher of France developed this F-1 inspired concept mower. It’s a lawnmower that looks like a little F-1 racecar. At first I thought it was remote controlled, which would have been bad-to-the-ass but it’s a push mower. It still looks fast though doesn’t it? You probably have to run behind it to keep up. It’s even got an LCD gauge display on the push-handle. The only thing it’s missing? A cup holder. Who the hell mows the lawn without drinking beer? I modded my push mower with two cup holders and I pull a cooler of beer behind me. I can go from 0 to wasted in 1/4 acre.
Two more pics after the jump, including one from behind. Read more
