groundbot 150x150 Balls to SecurityIn my other life, as a reviewer and tester of security and surveillance devices I get to play around with a lot of highly innovative and occasionally downright wacky gadgets but this one has them all beat. It’s called the GroundBot and it’s pretty much what it looks like, a motorised ball, that wanders around, with two side-mounted cameras. It comes from a company called Rotundus and it can be controlled manually, beaming back 3D images to the operator, or programmed to follow preset routes, It’s waterproof, rugged and capable of moving through mud and snow, so it’s perfect for keeping watch on outdoor locations. So if you’re out and about, getting into places you should be and you think that you are being watched, don’t look up, look down…

hacked 150x150 Hacked Off USB MemoryIt started off as a bit of a joke but now it’s a commercial product. A bright spark at Evilmadsicentist.com came up with a simple mod that turns a flash drive into what looks like a cable that’s just been torn apart. Clearly designed for that special someone, the sort of person who enjoys humorous, witty and ironic artefacts, and probably already has a dog’s back end sticking out of their lawn and fake bullet holds on their car. Anyway, a company called Fred & Friends is now making them and it’s called ‘Hacked’ the ‘OH! *#%’ flash drive. It’s available with a 2Gb capacity and that’s just about all that’s known about it at the , so if you want one head over to Worldwidefred.com and pester them, not me…

googlelive 150x150 Google LivelyDid you ever get into Second Life? Basically, you could consider it a game, but for a lot of people, it’s more than just that. As an example, it’s enough to say that, a few months ago, I read an article about a real world company involved in the real estate business… in Second Life! So, we have real estate brokers arriving at the office, starting the computer, getting into Second Life, and then doing what one real estate broker usually does – selling properties, virtual ones, to be more precise, and earning money, but real money, this time. Now, you are probably wondering what’s the link between all this and Hitsgarden, aren’t you? I’ll get to it right away…

My friends, it’s all about ! No, it’s not about Google Docs, Google Mail, Blogger or another service/application currently developed by the Californian IT giant that we are all familiar with. For now, this is still a pet in ’s backyard, but they have decided to show it to the world, although they claim this is only 20 percent done, for now. What is it? Lively, of course! Read more
