Most popular downloaded programs?
For an upcoming post, I’m putting together a list of the programs that someone is most likely to download and install after completing a clean installation of Windows.
Here are the programs that I come up with quickly:
* Firefox
* Picasa
* Skype
* iTunes + QuickTime
* Windows Live Essentials
* Adobe Reader
* Flash
* Java
Of course, I have more entries on my list of personal faves, and there are some essential categories where there isn’t a clear leader antivirus and security programs, for example. There’s also a second tier of popular but not essential software, like file compression tools, disk utilities, and disk-burning software. But right now I’m looking for the ones that are really , where someone is very likely to want a quick download link. Read more
Firefox Erodes IE to New Low
The open-source browser from Mozilla has managed to grab a share of the market representing no less than half of the Microsoft proprietary browser, according to StatCounter data. Essentially, the market measuring firm indicates that Internet Explorer’s share has dropped to under 60% while Firefox has grown continually to its detriment and is up to 30%. The statistics made public are valid for users worldwide. The situation is much worse in the US for IE and Microsoft, StatCounter explains.
In the US alone, IE dropped from 56 .18% in June 2009 to just 54.77% in July. This while Firefox jumped from 31.5% to 32.34% in the same period of time. Safari is the bronze winner in the browser race with 7.59% while Chrome accounts for 3% and Opera for 0.72% in July. But the growth of Safari, Chrome and Opera pales in comparison to that of Firefox. Download Firefox 3.6 Nightly Builds
With Firefox 3.5 release coming near, Mozilla has already started working on Firefox’s next version codenamed Namoroka that is scheduled to launch in mid 2010. The pre-alpha builds are already out for Windows, Mac, and Linux. To keep day-to-day tab on the nightly builds, follow the link given at the bottom.

Firefox 3.5 RC Just Around the Corner
The first Release Candidate of Firefox 3.5, codenamed Shiretoko, is just around the corner. The RC development milestone means that Mozilla is extremely close to wrapping up the successor of Firefox 3.0, released back in mid-June 2008, almost a year ago. While there are voices claiming that Firefox 3.5 RC1 will be made available for download as early as tomorrow, fact is that Mozilla has a test day planned for the upcoming build of its open-source browser this Friday, May 29.
“MozQA is holding a Testday for the rollout of Firefox 3.5 RC 1 which is as close to a release as possible! I don’t need to remind everyone of how important this phase is, so we’re going to need your awesome testing skills to make sure it’s as polished as possible,” revealed a member of the Mozilla Q&A team. Internet Explorer is losing
The latest figures from the front of the browser wars of the table in the same way that reveals to continue to watch. Google Chrome has a unique minimalist look that easily separates itself from other browsers. The browser bars are not cluttered full of different options, menus and toolbars, instead it only features your most used browser features, like the back and forward arrows, bookmark button, bookmark toolbar address bar, go button, and two pull down icons for page settings and internet options. Google Chrome all versions
Google’s newly launched web browser Chrome is all set to shake the web browser industry. On the first look and it looks like the later the better quote fits up for Google Chrome. Chrome has borrowed and acquired most of the features from Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari and Internet Explorer to emerge as a hybrid and fast browser.
You can clearly see in the screen shot below that Google Chrome has the dials feature which has been taken up from Opera. Another thing by launching its own web browser by Google means a complete dominance over the Internet.
