Even though we have yet to see a working example let alone a prototype or even a mock-up, the announcement by Google on Monday of the Open Handset Alliance, which is behind the much-anticipated Android or ‘gPhone’, has sent a shiver of excitement through the industry. Thus far 34 companies have agreed to join the partnership to develop the phone, and there’s a speculation that one of them, Intel, the world’s largest chipmaker, is especially keen to be on board as it would give them access to the very promising sounding Android software. gPhones to Be Shipped Soon

God, I know Google is one of the top companies on the web, but there are way too many rumors concerning the gPhone. This piece of speculation sustains the long-discussed gPhones are already shipping by the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. This is not the first time when HTC is brought into discussions, so there must be a grain of truth somewhere. According to CNN Money, a UBS analyst confirmed the fact that HTC is currently working on the latest details about a 50,000-phone distribution which seem to be equipped (not surprisingly) with Google’s mobile phone operating system.
