No doubt as soon as you got back from your holidays you were impatient to import your holiday pics into Windows Photo Gallery. However, once you’ve played around with them, it’s a real shame to leave them just sitting on your PC. Using Windows Vista we’ve found 10 ways you can share your snaps, and make sure those summer memories never die.

1. Account sharing

When you import your photos to Windows Photo Gallery members of your family with different user accounts won’t be able to see them as they’ll be saved on your profile. Let them join in by sharing the folders.

2. Shared folders

To share your snaps with people who don’t use your computer, try Windows Live Messenger. In a conversation look at the toolbar, click Share Files > Open your sharing folder and drag and drop any files or folders you wish. These will transfer to your friend’s PC in seconds.

Live Photos of Nokia 6790

The Nokia Mako was spotted into the wild only a week ago, when most of AT&T’s roadmap for 2009 surfaced on Engadget, and the handset already made it into a series of live pictures that BGR has recently published.

Nokia 6790, codenamed Mako, comes to the market with a sliding QWERTY keypad and with 3G capabilities, and it seems that it will be heading towards AT&T’s lineup in a slightly different design than what anyone would expect from a Nokia mobile phone. Even so, there are a lot of features that remind us of any other handset coming from the manufacturer.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the new Nokia Mako will not come to the market as a high-end device, as one would expect, given its looks, but, BGR says, it rather fits in line with mobile phones like the Samsung Propel, LG Xenon and Pantec Matrix. Read more

It’s easily done; though and short of chaining a USB drive to your wrist sooner or later you are going to inadvertently leave one plugged into a PC. Here’s a simple little freeware program that might help jog your memory. It’s called Flash Drive Reminder and all you have to do is download the zip, extract it and copy a couple of small files to your drive. In fact there are two versions, Standard displays a reminder message when you plug the drive into a PC, and another when you log off or shut down the PC; the Quiet version just displays the logoff and shutdown messages.

secret 150x150 DivX Goes MobileIf you thought the highly compressed DivX multimedia format was only for PCs and DVD players then you might be interested to know that it has now made its way onto mobile phones and one of the first outings is on the new shiny, slidy LG Secret. Video on titchy screens tends to be a bit jerky and blurry and quite frankly a pain to watch for more than 30 seconds but on this very neat and well-featured 3G phone it is truly immaculate. The picture is clean and crisp with vibrant coilours and fluid movement. The Secret has a neat iPhone-like trick and when you turn it on its side the image automatically rotates, so you get the full benefit of the phones’ 640 x 480 widescreen display. Getting video onto the Secret is pretty straightforward too. DivX files can be uploaded by a USB cable from a PC or copied to a Micro SD card, (conversion software is included with the phone) or there’s the DIY method as the Secret has a built-in encoder, and you can shoot DivX videos on the phone’s camera. wifiGoogle, along with its partners, is supporting an initiative that is supposed to bring wireless high-speed Internet to every home, for an affordable price. The method is somewhat unusual, although the search giant has been promoting it for five months now, and it consists of allowing Internet providers to use the white spaces between the frequencies that are already employed by TV and satellite microphone providers.

“Our nation typically uses only about five percent of one of our most precious resources. Unlike other natural resources, there is no benefit to allowing this spectrum to lie fallow. The airwaves can provide huge economic and social gains if used more efficiently, as seen today with the relatively tiny slices utilized by mobile phones and WiFi services.” said the company in a plan filed to the Federal Communications Commission.
