25 Free Applications For Nokia N95

I think for now the Nokia N95 has won, as it’s the only way I can get decent access to my gmail account as the IMAP client on the HTC s620 doesn’t support gmail messages containing HTML, and the gmail mobile email app looks absolutely awful on the Windows Mobile device.
Another reason I love my Nokia N95 is the wide range of applications that can be installed. Just feast your eyes on If you’re looking to pimp your Nokia N95 then there are some great applications here: Read More »
The Killer Robots are Coming…

June 16, 2008
Last week I alerted you to the fact that a machine has been created that can replicate itself by manufacturing the parts needed to build a copy. My concern was that the killer robots that we all know will eventually take over the Earth and either enslave or destroy mankind could use this technology.
It could happen and we really should be afraid. From San Francisco comes news of the latest round of RoboGames (a bit like our own Robot Wars but a lot more violent!). As you’ll see from the video on the site these machines are really vicious, which is okay as most of them are radio controlled and only do what they are told but the really scary thing is that there are now autonomous robots that fight on their own heaven help us if they ever lean how to reproduce. Heed my warning people, before it’s too late!
Introducing Zune 2.5

Microsoft continues to hammer away at its Zune digital media player and the services built around the device, but the evolution is largely a case of going where Apple has already taken the iPod and iTunes. On May 5, 2008, Microsoft introduced the latest update to Zune, not only adding new features and enhancements to the device itself but also evolving the Zune software, Zune Social and the Zune Marketplace. The focus of the update is to build on top of what the company started with “Zune Social” in November 2007, namely to extend the social networking community created around the device.
“Zune owners are pretty passionate, and they had a lot of great ideas for making the community more valuable to music fans. And I definitely fall into that category myself - the main reason we’re all here is we love the music,” stated Brian Seitz, a Group Marketing Manager for Zune. Zune Social offers users the possibility to interact in terms of music discovery, comments, playlist browsing, with the update bringing to the table additional capabilities including the ability to send messages to friends, explore their music collections and even drag-and-drop Zune Cards. Radio, phone, GPS, MP3 player, TV, camera… been there done that, but just when you thought there wasn’t anything else that could be shoehorned into a wristwatch, think again. A company called Epoq has managed to fit a copy of Windows Mobile onto one, which you drive using a 1.4-inch OLED touch screen, and just for good measure the EGP-98B has built in 1.3MP camera, wi-fi, Bluetooth and a 4-band GSM phone. Now, it might all be a wind-up (pun intended) because details and availability are all very sketchy, and good images are also hard to find. Read More »
Listen to XM Radio on your Windows Mobile Phone

Apparently, XM Radio allows you to listen to their content without actually using an XM Radio receiver. Sure it makes sense most of the time, but if you don’t feel like carrying around a receiver all the time or maybe you’re indoors and out of line-of-sight… and you’ve got your Windows Mobile phone with you, why not tune it through a Windows Media stream on your cellular network? Noxon 2 links iPod and 10,000 Radio Stations

If you were wondering what else could be crammed into an iPod dock then how about 10,000 Internet radio stations? It’s an impressive feat though the Noxon 2 Radio really doesn’t give much away, but the little rubber-duck antenna on the back might tell you something. It’s has built-in Wi-FI and once provided with the WEP or WPA key for your wireless router (or wired Ethernet LAN) it goes hunting for streamed web radio stations (most formats) and pod casts. Normally setup on this type of widget can be a chore but this one was completely painless and it was ready to run in just a couple of minutes.
After it has it’s finished scanning you can select a station by name, genre, country and half a dozen other criteria from the backlit display on the front. Plug an iPod into the dock on the top and you can listen to that with all of its functions (though strangely not ‘Shuffle’ play) controllable through a remote handset. Read More »
