Here come the results for the 2007-2008 Durex Sexual Wellbeing Global Survey. It was made on a pool of 26,000 people from 26 countries around the world, and the results may be surprising or not.
The list is topped by the Greeks, 87% of them having sex at least once a week, followed by the Brazilians, with 82%. Third on the list, with 80%, are the Russians. 60% of the Australians have sex weekly.
Only 55% of the British have sex at least once a week; the number is 53% for Americans and Nigerians, and 34% (!) for the Japanese.
Austrians appear to be the world’s most experienced lovers - Austrian men have had 29 sexual partners and Austrian women 17, while the smalest numbers have been recorded in the case of the Chinese (4 sexual partners for men and 2 for women).
But if 60% of the people saw sex as “fun, enjoyable and a vital part of life,” overall, just 44% of the subjects were “fully satisfied” with their sex lives and only 48% said they “usually” had orgasms. Nigerians compensated low quantity with quality: 78% of the Nigerian women said they regularly had orgasms, followed by Mexican women, with 74%. Japanese women bottomed this issue as well: only 10% of them regularly have orgasms.
64% of the men, compared to 30% of the women, regularly have orgasms. About 25% of men said they had had difficulties in getting an erection, and 29% had had problems maintaining one.
Of those who were sexually satisfied, over 80% said they felt respected by their partner. About 30% said they would like more fun and intimacy during sex.
“Our findings suggest that achieving sexual satisfaction starts from your first sexual experience. 37 % agree that their sex life has been positively affected by their first sexual experience,” said a spokesperson for Durex.
The study reports that Americans, on average, have sex once every 4.3 days and spend 57 minutes per week engaging in foreplay and sexual intercourse. While the numbers may seem high, the global rates show a frequency of sex once every 3.5 days and a weekly time allotment of 71 minutes.
37% of Americans feel their sex lives have been negatively impacted by daily stress.
Heterosexuals had an average number of partners during their lives of 13 for men and 7 for women. Homosexuals had an average of 108 partners for men and 11 for women.
The duration of the contact decreased with the age: those aged 16 to 24 make sex for about 24 minutes during an encounter; those over 55 can barely do it for 12 minutes. Still, among the latter, 48% practice oral sex and 34% use sex toys.
