Top 10 Xbox 360 Hacks
Geeks love getting the most out of their gaming consoles. I hope you would agree that the Xbox 360 is the best gaming console on the market. I recently purchased an Xbox 360 so I have been looking into what I can do (I know, kinda late). With that being said, I would like to share my top 10 hack finds so far.
1. Turn your Xbox 360 into a Laptop – Like soldering? Engadget takes us through the steps of turning your Xbox 360 into a portable laptop. How. Cool. Is. That.
2. Flashing the DVD firmware to play game backups – If you have owned your Xbox 360 for some time it is possible to flash the firmware on the DVD drive to play game backups (your own backups of course
). WARNING – This could ban you from Xbox Live!
3. Play online without Xbox Live for Free – By using Xlink Kai you can play multiplayer LAN games online for free! MS has put a 30ms ping limit on the Xbox 360, so be sure to close all other internet apps before playing. Check out the wiki for more details.
4. Use Your Laptop as a free Xbox Wi-Fi Adapter and save $80 – Use internet connection sharing to wire your Xbox 360 to the internet instead of buying the $80 adapter.
5. DIY Xbox 360 Wifi Adapter – If you don’t want a cord from your Xbox 360 hanging out of your laptop all the time you can always follow Geeks Are Sexy’s guide to a DIY Xbox 360 Wifi adapter.
6. Stream Netflix Movies – By using vmcNetFlix you can watch all your favorite movies from your Netflix subscription.
7. Use your own HDMI cable and save $40 – Chad shows us how to fit the A/V adapter into the Xbox 360 while using your own HDMI cable instead of buying the $40 official Microsoft cable.
8. Turn your Xbox A/V cable into a VGA Cable for $7 – Once again, Engadget to the rescue with DIY instructions on how to turn your standard Xbox 360 A/V cable into a VGA cable on the cheap.
9. Mod your Case – There are limitless ways you can customize your Xbox 360 case. To start you off you can paint the face plate and the controller.
10. Surf the web – If you have Windows Media Center Editon you can surf the web from the comfort of your Xbox 360. Note that this is limited functionality only – no typing, no sound, etc. Basically just a screen shot from your PC (Good enough for pr0n).
Hopefully you ran into something new and there is still more to discover with your Xbox 360. With such an interesting machine to tweak, no wonder everyone has out-done themselves on hacking/modding the Xbox 360.

Actually, the PS3 does all that without having to spend another dime, except for the back-up thing. The PS3 has bluetooth, usb ports, hdmi, much bigger hard drive, plays blue-rays, has wireless G, and with only a OS called Yellow Dog you can transform your PS3 into a Mac PC with a unlimited screen size (since it has true 1080p resolution). Also, the PS3 doesn’t charge to play over internet!!
How much does the XBOX cost??

Now, tell me which system is superior. I have The PS3 60Gs, The Xbox 360 Premium w/HDMI, Wii, 2 PSPs and the GameCube.
I got the Xbox for gaming, the PS3 for gaming and BlueRays and the Wii for my family.
Which one would you choose?????
The dominant is PS3. Then the Xbox360 then the Wii. I can say this because I have all three systems and I HAVE try them all.
PS- Nice Post, thou.
raul ur so wrong xbox 360 is way bettr it has way bettr graphics and games.
HD DVDs and cooler games those 2 catagories are the deciding factors 360 wins
Xbox 360 all the way
Speaking from experience (own all three systems) the PS3 does stand out to me but…. there does see to be a bigger gravitation towards the XBOX 360.
If for any reason it could very well be contributed to cost. Most parents that buy these units for their kids could care less about the units capabilities but they do care about cost – hence opt for the 360. My kids enjoy both systems but can’t network with friends while playing online with the PS3 because most of them don’t personally own one (their parents might but that does’t help the cause).
Anyway, I also enjoy both but do hold the PS3 in a higher regard myself (tried the Yellodog thing and toyed around with 360 mods as well).
Both systems are a credit to the industry in any way you look at it.
It is painfully obvious that, from a tech standpoint, the PS3 is far supioror to the 360. I love the xbox simply for the Halo series. That’s the only reason I bought that over the ps3. I plan on getting a playstation soon.
PS3 seams to be a better entertainment system but the 360 is deafeningly a better gaming system. 2 biggest factors for that in a) online is far superior.(Dont say that its free on PS3 cause i would rather pay an average of $5 a mouth for decent support and upgrades, as well as servers that dont crash and dont require you to leave the game to send a massage). b) Games are far better, 360 has exclusives like Halo, Gears of war, Mass Effect, and PS3 has what Uncharted.
P.S. 360 also has double the RAM of a PS3, which means everything loads much, much faster.
